Victoria Therapeutic Riding Association (VTRA) was formed in 1982 to provide a therapeutic riding experience to children and adults with diverse abilities throughout the Greater Victoria area. Today, VTRA is a non-profit charitable organization that uses horseback riding as a recognized therapeutic aid and offers a variety of equine-assisted activities to more than 200 children and adults throughout the region. VTRA is made up of a volunteer board, a small staff team of six and more than 275 volunteers who, through their dedicated contribution of time, enable participants to benefit each week.

VTRA respectfully acknowledges that we operate on the traditional territories of the Lkwungen (Esquimalt and Songhees) and W̱SÁNEĆ (Pauquachin, Tsartlip, Tsawout, Tseycum) peoples. We are grateful to be able to teach, play and learn on these beautiful lands.

Programs

We offer a variety of programs designed to be of interest  to individuals of all abilities.

Options currently include Adaptive Riding, Stable Management and Adaptive Driving.

Volunteer

We recruit enthusiastic individuals who are interested in helping us help others.

A variety of volunteer experiences are available, and prior horse experience is not required for all positions.
